Create Your Own Fantasy Animal: A Creative Workshop for Kids
"Every child is an artist. The problem is remaining an artist when we grow up." – Pablo Picasso
Drawing and modeling animals is a beloved activity for all children. What if they could shape their imaginary animal with their hands , creating a real, solid, colorful object made by them? With Aqua Resin , a high-quality alpha mineral plaster, you can turn your imagination into reality, simply, safely, and fun.
This workshop is perfect for home, school, or a creative birthday party. No baking or special equipment required: all you need is water, imagination, and a little experimentation.
Why children (and adults) like this workshop
-
It stimulates narrative creativity (inventing an animal, giving it a name, a story)
-
Develop manual skills with modeling and decoration
-
Trains the ability to concentrate and the aesthetic sense
-
It is a safe and non-toxic activity, thanks to Aqua Resin
-
The result is concrete and long-lasting : an object to keep or give as a gift.
What is needed for the laboratory
-
Water or Aqua Shield
-
Silicone molds (basic animals, dinosaurs, customizable shapes)
-
Paintbrushes, vinyl glue, small scissors with rounded tips
-
Aqua Pigment to color the mixture
-
Pieces of felt, googly eyes, feathers, buttons, colored scraps
-
A base to work on (cardboard, cardboard or wood)
Laboratory steps
1. Invent your own animal
Before starting with the materials, invite children to imagine their fantasy animal. It can be inspired by a real animal, a mythological creature, or completely fictional. They can draw or describe it.
Guiding questions:
-
Where does he live?
-
What color is it?
-
What does he eat?
-
Does it have wings, horns, scales, legs?
2. Prepare the colored mixture
In a bowl, pour 50 g of water or Aqua Shield and add a few drops of Aqua Pigment . Mix well, then add 100 g of sifted Aqua Resin . You'll get a smooth paste that's easy to pour into molds.
3. Model and color
Pour the mixture into molds, or use small containers like lids, spoons, or cookie cutters. After about an hour, the shapes will come apart easily. Now the creative part begins: each child can assemble the various parts and transform them into an animal using glue, brushes, accessories, and their imagination.
Tip: Add small details like cardboard wings, wire legs, wool tails, and felt horns.
4. Tell your story
Once they've created their own animal, each child can tell its story: where it lives, what it does, if it has superpowers, what noise it makes. A great storytelling and socialization activity.
